Lindsay Stefans
Designer + Artist Bio:
Lindsay Stefans is an award-winning artist and lighting designer whose work spans architectural lighting, sculptural light art, and immersive installation. With a Master of Fine Arts in Lighting Design from Parsons School of Design at The New School in New York City, Stefans began her career in New York with the acclaimed firm L’Observatoire International, where she contributed to high-profile projects including the Disney Concert Hall for the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
Her global portfolio includes mega-projects, performing arts venues, and temporary installations that explore the poetic and emotional potential of light. At the heart of her practice is a reverence for materiality and mindfulness—Stefans creates ethereal light sculptures using handmade paper, a medium she studied in Japan. Her work blends traditional craft with contemporary minimalism, embracing the philosophy of wabi-sabi and the transformative qualities of light.
In addition to her design work, Stefans refers to herself as a guide—integrating her role as a mindfulness teacher and performative installation artist. She designs immersive experiences that invite reflection, healing, and a deeper connection to space and self. Her creative collaborations include Cleveland institutions such as Lake View Cemetery, Ingenuity Cleveland, and Case Western Reserve University.
